If you’re anything like me, you love cocktails, have tons of books on them, and, of course, have a cocktail shaker. You don’t know how to make many of them though, because you either don’t have what you need to make them, it’s too expensive, or it simply requires a skill you don’t have. Well, if you don’t want to hire a professional bartender to make you your party drinks, you’ll have to find the best cocktails for an unforgettable party that you can easily make on your own. This is why I’m bringing you a list of some of the most famous, yet simplest cocktails to make when you’re having your friends over.
Cuba Libre
Cuba Libre is a classy way of saying rum and coke, but it tastes better than just mixing the rum and coke and calling it a cocktail. It owes this to the squeezed lime juice and the way the cocktail is served. There are special glasses and ways of serving and garnishing different cocktails. You will need a highball glass in which you’ll put the 1/ounce of lime juice, preferably freshly squeezed. If you don’t happen to have lime, you can use lemon instead, but it’s much better with lime juice. Fill the glass with ice cubes and add 2 ounces of light rum. You can try dark rum instead if you’re a fan of it. Top it off with 4 ounces of cola and gently stir with a spoon. Add a straw, and enjoy one of the best cocktails for an unforgettable party.
Tom Collins
Not a big fan of rum? How about gin instead? Tom Collins is easy to make, and it’s basically adult lemonade, but you will need to prepare the simple syrup from half a cup of water and half a cup of granulated sugar. Add them into a small saucepan and put it over medium heat. Stir until all the sugar is dissolved and let it cool. You can keep it refrigerated for a month but use it right away to try one of the best cocktails for an unforgettable party – Tom Collins. Pour 2 ounces of gin, 1 ounce of freshly squeezed lemon juice, and ½ ounce of simple syrup into a tall glass also known as Collins glass. Fill the glass with ice and pour club soda to the top. Stir the drink, garnish it with a pretty lemon wheel and put a cherry on top if you want to get that fancy cocktail look.
Cosmopolitan
It’s not really a party without cosmo, the favorite cocktail of many famous women that was often mentioned in “Sex and the City”. To make it, you just need to pour 1 ½ ounce of vodka, ¼ ounce of lime juice, ¼ ounce of triple sec, and ¼ ounce of cranberry juice in your cocktail shaker. I use blueberry juice instead, but whichever drinks you use, you need to add ice to the shaker and shake until the drink is cool. Then just strain it into a cocktail glass (preferably a chilled one) and if you want, garnish it with a thin lime wedge.
Sex On The Beach
Want a simple yet one of the incredible, famous, best cocktails for an unforgettable party? Don’t ever be forced to ask a bartender for Sex on the beach again when you can make it on your own! All you need is 2 ounces of your favorite brand of vodka, 1 ounce of tasty peach schnapps, 2 ounces of orange juice or grapefruit juice, and 2 ounces of delicious cranberry juice. If you want, you can also add a teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Pour all of this into a hurricane glass along with ice, stir it and drink up! You can garnish it with some cherries and an orange round to make it look prettier.
Margarita
Anyone up for margaritas? I’m sure your friends will love a Margarita party! For this recipe, you will need to prepare the Margarita glass. Make the top rim of the glass wet by running the juicy part of a lime wedge around it and dip it in the plate filled with salt. Now your glass is ready, and you can start making the drink by adding 1 ½ ounce of tequila, 1 ounce of triple sec, and 2/4 ounces of lime juice into the shaker along with a few ice cubes. Afterward, just shake and pour the drink into a glass garnished with a small lime slice or add a sweeter (simple syrup) before shaking if you want a sweeter drink.
Mojito
Mojito is one of the best cocktails for an unforgettable party during hot summer days. You will need to get your hands on 10 to 20 fresh mint leaves and make honey simple syrup by combining equal amounts of water and honey in a saucepan. Heat the mixture until it simmers, and whisk together until the honey is completely melted. It can be kept in the fridge for 3 days, but you’re going to need it now. Add 2-3 teaspoons of honey simple syrup into the shaker along with 10 mint leaves, 2 ounces of white rum (4 tablespoons), and 1 ounce of fresh lime juice (2 tablespoons). Use a wooden spoon to muddle the mind and add a cup of ice. Shake the mix and strain it into a tall glass with ice. Top it off with club soda and garnish with lime wedges and mint leaves. Put a metal straw in it and enjoy your drink!
Blue Frog
Okay, so you’re learning about the best cocktails for an unforgettable party, but do you want one that will make you forget everything? Blue frog is not for everyone, and it’s made by mixing ½ ounces of blue curaçao, gin, rum, tequila, triple sec, and vodka. Blue Lagoon
Your friends will surely enjoy this blue drink, and all you need to do is add 1 ounce of your favorite vodka, 1 ounce of blue curaçao, and 4 ounces of lemonade into a shaker filled with ice.
